BAKERBOTS

205 Delaware Avenue | Toronto, ON

Bakerbots is probably most famous for their giant ice-cream sandwiches. The combination of cookie to ice-cream is endless! We came here around 9pm on a Wednesday night and it was packed, inside and out. We had to take about 10 minutes to finally come to a decision.
There wasn’t much baked goods left by the end of the night but everyone came into get either an ice-cream sandwich or just ice-cream.

The cafe is incredibly cute, quaint and tiny.
The cookie options are: Ginger Molasses, Captain Peanut, RoCocoa, The Everything, Birthday, Oatmeal.

The three of us all got an ice-cream sandwich, are two sizes to choose from: 1/2 sandwich for $4.00 or whole sandwich for $6.50.
Top going clockwise: Rococoa with London Fog ice-cream, Oatmeal with Burnt Toffee ice-cream and Captain Peanut with London Fog ice-cream. I really enjoyed the London Fog ice-cream!
The ice-cream sandwiches are perfect for a hot summer night or even a cold winter afternoon!

P.S Bakerbots also makes their own ice-cream which is amazing considering the large variety they have.

THE WEDDING CAKE SHOPPE

859 College Street | Toronto, ON
https://theweddingcakeshoppe.com/

As a baker, I’ve always wanted to visit The Wedding Cake Shoppe but I never had the chance because it’s so far from home. But this past Friday everything changed, I received a tweet from @weddingcakeshop telling me I won 6 cupcakes by just following them. Yup, every week they give out 6 cupcakes to one of their followers, how great is that?!

I love the mismatched tables and the cute frilly light fixture, somewhat simple in decor to show off all the products & cakes. When I arrived around 1pm there was about 8 – 10 flavours to choose from and the girl that served me was super nice and patient while i tried to figure out which ones i wanted.

In the end I ended up with these flavours, from top left going clockwise: red velvet, passion fruit, dulce de leche, raspberry rapture, baked raspberry cream cheese & carrot cake.

I have to saw these have been hands down the best cupcakes I’ve ever had, my favourite was the carrot cake. I’m normally a sucker for carrot cake but this one was super moist, light, fluffy and not too cinnamon-y. The cream cheese frosting was really good too, not too sweet.
But seriously. All the cupcakes were really good and I would recommend everyone to make a trip down to The Wedding Cake shoppe.

NINO D’AVERSA BAKERY

3120 Rutherford Road | Vaughan, ON
http://ninodaversa.com/

Decided to stop by Nino D’Aversa for a quick lunch before heading to Vaughn Mills to do some shopping.
Nino D’Aversa has multiple locations all over the GTA, the one in Vaughn is pretty new and it’s huge. I love the open concept of the bakery / restaurant, with the dark brown cabinets, pillars and seating.

We got a couple of things to share, this is the Chicken Parmigiana
and it came with two sides of your choice. We got mushrooms with pea and sauteed rapini. Perfectly cooked chicken, tender, moist and flavourful. The sides were good too even though I very much dislike rapini because of the bitterness. Also I think this giant plate was only around $11, what a steal.

As soon as I saw this I knew I had to try it! It’s a Risotto Ball all so know as Arancini di riso, it was humongous like literally the size of a softball! Nicely fried with a thin crispy crust and nice and creamy inside.

It was stuffed with pea and served with your choice of spicy tomato sauce or just regular. This was $5, I thought it was a little expensive for a ball of rice.

This is the personal sized pizza! Seriously two people could share one. The crust was incredibly thin and who doesn’t love thin crust pizza?! I had one small slice because I was pretty stuffed.
Highlight: they have a wood burning oven for the pizza!

After having lunch, we were all too full to even contemplate on having dessert but I did have a quick look at all the goodies. A copious amount of pastries and cookies but too bad the gelato section was closed for the season.
But next time I will definitely save room for dessert!

BOBBETTE & BELLE

1121 Queen Street East | Toronto, ON
http://www.bobbetteandbelle.com/

Bobbette & Belle has the cutest bakery I’ve ever seen, bright, elegant and very Victorian! Everything about Bobbette & Belle is so well put together, from their retail store to their website and blog. Groupon had a coupon for $20 worth of goods for only $10.

The wall of goodies! From cookies, brittle, meringues to marshmallows!

The selection of french macarons! From left to right: chocolate, pistachio, vanilla, chocolate hazelnut, raspberry, cassis, salted caramel and passion fruit.

Wall of display wedding cakes, so gorgeous! So much detail put into their cakes.

Top going clockwise: Red velvet, strawberry and vanilla. The cupcakes were extremely moist and dense. The butter creams were soft, light and fluffy; just perfect. For the vanilla cupcakes you could actually see the little specks of vanilla bean throughout the cake.

I also got some cupcakes to go, salted caramel and mango passion fruit. Along with the cupcakes I got a pack of chocolate marshmallows and a sticky toffee pudding!
